In 2017, I was an intern working with middle schoolers at a school garden. I spent many hours outdoors andall I had available to protect my curls were sun hats that would leave my hair flat.I tried other alternatives like hair wraps but nothing really worked the way that I wanted it to. So, I experimented to try and create something that would fully cover my curls without flattening it,the result was the afrona.

Above is an actual photo of how my hair looked during the summer of 2017.The sun left my hair dry, brittle and discolored.To much time in the sun eventually starts to breakdown your hair. (Notice that my curls in the bottom aren't as bad)
Thankfully, I was able to create a solution with the afrona. Now my summers are spent worrying about which beach I'd prefer to go to, not about my hair getting damaged.
